At approximately 04:00 local time, a white van rammed into pedestrians near a campsite at the ‘Pinkpop’ music festival, the longest-running annual music festival dedicated pop and rock in the world, in Landgraaf, a southern town in the Netherlands, near the German border.

This incident is consistent with attacks we have seen in the recent past targeting popular tourist attractions and site which are high profile but also considered soft targets. These types of venues are particularly attractive for adversaries looking to carry out large scale and potentially mass casualty attacks.
